A.B.A.T.E. is an acronym for American Bikers Aiming Toward Education. In the beginning it stood for American Bikers Against Totalitarian Enactments. Due to the fact that ABATE is interested in improving the image of motorcycling and motorcyclists this acronym was changed.
ABATE is a national not for profit organization, it is not a club! It is a grass roots organization so we count on our numbers to affect legislation at the state and federal levels. ABATE exists in every state with involvement in each state being different. Each state is broken down into regions or districts encompassing several different counties. Each region is headed by a Regional Coordinator and support structure to help get information out to the members. Your region or district is decided by zip code. Because you may be in one district or region does not mean you cannot attend meetings or events in other area’s.
ABATE members consist of many different types of individuals, some belong to other organizations or clubs. Since ABATE is not a club it does not matter what other organization or club you belong to you can still become and ABATE member to increase the membership numbers when the organization is fighting for your rights in your state.
You do not have to own a motorcycle to be a member! You do not have to ride a specific brand to be a member!
ABATE is one motorcycle organization fighting for your rights and we fully support the MRF fighting for your rights at the federal level! If you are not a member then you need to become one to help us protect your rights and fight targeted legislation against all motorcycle riders. |
